The Brigshaw Learning Partnership (BLP)
We are part of the Brigshaw Learning Partnerhsip (BLP).
The Brigshaw Learning Partnership is a multi-academy trust in outer East Leeds, consisting of six primary schools and one high school: Allerton Bywater, Kippax Ash Tree, Kippax Greenfield, Kippax North, Swillington, Methley and Brigshaw High School. We became a multi-academy trust on 1 April 2017.
The partnership is committed to working together across our community to ensure that all children have access to a full range of opportunities and support.

Ken Morton
Ken worked for 33 years with Leeds City Council. His senior level roles included Education Finance, School Improvement and his final 3 years were as Head of Service: Young People and Skills covering IAG, Connexions, Youth Service, Arts and Music Service plus overview of the city Learning Improvement budget. Ken has chaired 2 Interim Executive Boards (1 High School and 1 Special) as they converted to academy status during the last 18 months. Ken is also a Governor at Kippax Ash Tree, a trustee at YAMSEN, a small charity supporting musical opportunities for people with disabilities, and a trustee at GIPSIL, a housing support charity in East Leeds.
Kirsty Malloch
Kirsty is an ex pupil of BLP schools; Methley Primary School and Brigshaw High School. Whilst at school, in addition to her studies, Kirsty embraced every opportunity, taking on the role of student ambassador for our huge international Olympic legacy project. One of her first tasks was to persuade all of our partner primary schools to get involved in hosting over 200 international students from ten countries. After leaving school, Kirsty graduated in Law with first class honours, received the prestigious Neuberger prize, was awarded the Denning Scholarship from Lincoln’s Inn, completed Bar Professional training and qualified as a barrister.
Keith Wakefield
Keith’s commitment to the Brigshaw community spans over thirty years in many roles, from championing our children as a school governor, local councillor and leader of Leeds City Council Keith resigned from his school governance roles on retiring from the City Council but continues to support the community. Keith has twice served as Leader of Leeds City Council and overseen momentous changes and huge transformational projects in Leeds. But Keith always found time for the Brigshaw community and has been a constant support through the decades.
Peter Laurence
Peter Laurence’s association with the Brigshaw community goes back to 1997 when he became Headteacher of Brigshaw High school. Peter was instrumental in the establishment and design of the successful partnership which evolved from a soft federation to a co-operative trust and, in 2016, to a Multi-Academy Trust. Peter led Brigshaw High School until 2008. He subsequently focused on the trust as Development Director. Peter retired from this role in 2018 but continues to support the BLP, becoming a Member in September 2020, amongst other voluntary governance roles across Leeds and West Yorkshire.
Martin Dove
Martin Dove has given invaluable service to the Brigshaw Learning Partnership. He was previously Chair of Governors at Brigshaw High School for over 15 years and was instrumental in the development of the Brigshaw Trust. Martin has extensive experience in education, including three headships and decades of experience in school governance.
